PARAORCHESTRA   DEATH SONG BOOK  I  Album Art

A collaboration between Brett Anderson and Charles Hazlewood with Paraorchestra, Death Songbook is a collection of covers explorting themes of grief and death, recorded during the pandemic.

The album reflects on our relationship with universal and difficult emotions. It questions the part of light within darkness, the necessity of allowing ourselves to feel these emotions and what role can songs play to help us cope. The artwork is raw, taking inspiration from abstract expressionism. It plays with contrasts between light and dark, revealing or obscuring the title to illustrate the ambivalent emotions we face in these times, hoping for peace and acceptance.
